"Many natural hair bloggers tell you to go for a sulphate free shampoo but what they don't tell how important the pH of to a shampoo is".
..
Most companies use sulphate as a key ingredient in making shampoos because it is cheap, removes dirt and foams well... this sulphate is also found in detergent made to wash plates, cars, clothes and the likes which is absolutely safe for that...but using SLS for hair might be dangerous of care is not taken....note i said if care is not taken*
Sulphate free shampoos are expensive many times people don't have the money for that so they opt for cheaper ones which are more likely to contain SLS.
The thing is many natural hair bloggers tell you to go for a sulphate free shampoo but what they don't tell you how important the pH of to a shampoo is.
The pH of a shampoo tells how compatible the shampoo would be to both your hair and scalp..wether you're using sulphate or free sulphate shampoo you should check if the pH is balanced...if the pH is not between 5.5-7 ..it could be damaging your hair.
.. .the next time you want to get a shampoo at the store ensure its pH balanced before you use it.
Note
Sulphate or free sulphate shampoos contain harsh ingredients ... because either of them are used to wash out dirt from your hair so you want to make sure you use them once a month or once in two months .
Make sure you prepoo for about 30 minutes before using a shampoo...it helps to reduce the effect of shampoos on your hair.
Sometime go for a co-wash (using conditioner to wash your hair)..rather than shampoo..I said sometimes oo...not everytime
You can use a litmus paper to check if your shampoo is acidic basic or neutral or a pH meter if you have one
